Our Solar System in Constraint

Poster Design
Concept Development

This project merges a personal fascination with a key design principle learned during the ASU Graphic Design Program. The outcome is a concept-driven piece that bridges individual interest with formal design thinking—demonstrating how structure and personal narrative can coexist. During my studies in GRA 221 Letterform at Arizona State University, I learned that in all aspects of design, constraint builds restraint. I worked with constraint systems to develop my ability to discipline myself within my work. I can relate my fascination to my studies by translating each planet into pixels within a constraint system. By changing the scale of the pixels based on variables of data specific to each planet like elevation, temperature, or even visual features, I can make each planet unique. The final layout is a poster of our solar system remodeled with the constraint planets.
